Inspiration week at the Colour Crazy Challenge

Happy Friday every one!

This week it's my teams turn to post inspiration for the current challenge over at the Graph'it Marker blog.

This time we have been challenged to colour some sort of transparent image ... now this can be quite tricky even for the most seasoned colourist so don't worry we have an additional theme of "Summer Florals" so you can take your pick.

Don't forget you have the chance to win a selection of Graph'it Markers if you are the random winner!!!

So lets take a look at what I did ... go easy on me now ive been under the weather and its my first attempt at transparencies .. not that i'm making excuses at all lol

I used the stunning Dahlia Digi Stamp from Hanna Lynn, I misjudged the size when printing and ended up with a teeny tiny image less than 2"x3" to colour but managed it with my specs on lol.

Skin: 3120, 4155, 4150,4115, 4135 (blush)
Hair: 7165, 7160, 7150, 7140
Dragonfly: 6175, 6140, 6130, blender
White shake marker pen for veins in dragonfly wings

I used papers from an old Prima pad, its at least 3 years old .... shame on me for not opening it sooner.

I added flowers, leaves and pearl trim from WOC and lots of stickles to finish.

Hope you like it!

Have a great weekend!

Fun in the Sun at the Polkadoodles Challenge

Hi everyone,

Yet again I have been a bad blogger and neglecting you all haven't I, I'm so sorry I feel I owe you all a bit of an explanation so here goes .. to keep it short I have a defect in my bile duct so unfortunately I am susceptible to infections of the Liver, Pancreas and Gallbladder, it has become increasingly worse over the past few months and unfortunately has resulted in several long hospital admissions, I am awaiting an operations to give me some relief and hopefully get back to normal :)

I'm pleased to say my wonderful boss Nikky has been so kind and understanding and has let me joining challenges whenever I have been able to do so, thanks so much Nikky.

So without further waffling here is my inspiration card for the current challenge over at the Polkadoodles blog and the theme is "Fun in the Sun".

So here's what I did ... I must warn you though ... don't be shocked ... I actually haven't done any colouring on this ..

I used the super adorable lushusness that is the Cherryblossom Lane CD, all the images are hand drawn and painted by my ever so talented boss lady Nikky.

I printed the topper, papers, flowers and birdies out onto water colour card stock and they printed so well, everything is so soft and delicate it was difficult to get a good picture.

You'll be pleased to hear I've moved on slightly from Kraft card and my new obsession is now acetate, I created an acetate dome to add loads of dimension and then covered it with ooodles of embellishments from ribbon to ric-rac to flowers and birdies and my sentiment and some flourishes.

The inserts are also from the CD, I just matted and layers them to fit my large card.

There, sorry its so picture heavy, I hope you like it.

Do make sure you pop over and see the rest of the teams makes.

Have a great weekend, hugs xx Cara xx

Airbrushing with a Straw???????

Hi everyone,

If all goes to plan by the time you read this I should be in the Northern General having my op to try fix my dodgy digestive system ... I'll not go into to details but if it works I should feel a whole lot better in a few weeks.

Any hoos its Inspiration week for the current challenge over at the Colour Crazy Challenge at the Graph'it Marker Blog.

Now for the DT we had the tough challenge of creating Airbrush effects ... without the use of an Airbrush aaaaargh??

You can breath a sigh of relief though because the challenge for entrants is to use hot colours (you will see by my card that I totally missed this part lol)

So I cheated a little and dug out my cheapo spritzer tool, it fits most Alcohol Markers so it worked well after a little bit of practice.

I used this super cute new stamp set from Tiddly Inks, this is Monkey Around Wrynn, I got here in the Clear Stamp set, I couldn't find it in the store so I left you the link for the Digi set :)

I created a cloud mask on my Silhouette and used my spritzer tool to spray 3 different colour Graph'it Marker blues to create the clouds (after masking Wrynn off of course)

I also used the spritzer to create a border around the image.  The sentiment came with the stamp set.

I hope you like it, I had great fun spritzing and if you pop over to the challenge my awesome teamies have created their Airbrushing effects with old Biro tubes!!! Wow!

I hope you all like my card, have a great weekend and I will see you when I'm recovered.
